Florida Medicaid Planning and Eligibility
Do I or my family member need Medicaid Planning?
If you or your loved one is facing a nursing home with inadequate funds to finance the stay, then you may need Medicaid planning assistance. The Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 became effective in Florida in November of 2007, and created substantial obstacles for those facing nursing home care. It put in place income and asset caps for determining Medicaid eligibility. In Florida, if your income exceeds $1,911 per month (Includes pensions, SSI, Dividends, Jointly Held Assets, Alimony, Passive Income, Etc.), or your countable assets exceed $2,000, you are ineligible for Medicaid benefits. Call our office at 407-447-0601 to find out strategies to reduce the amount of income and assets that is counted against you without losing access to your money.
What if I have already been denied Medicaid benefits?
You are entitled to an appeal of the denial of the benefits ruling. Contact our office to get the process started.
If my loved one is already in a nursing home, is it too late to apply for Medicaid?
No. The average stay at a nursing home in Florida is between $6,500 - $7,000 per month. This creates tremendous burdens on families. It is never too late to begin Florida Medicaid planning. Assets can still be protected and your loved one may still be able to qualify.
