What is a retainer?

A retainer ordinarily is a flat fee which is paid to a law office to ensure availability on certain matters. Sometimes a retainer is really an advanced fee. This means that a deposit is placed in an attorney's trust account and any future legal expenses are then taken from that amount. When the representation is complete, any money left in the client's trust account must be returned to the client.

Is a retainer more effective than a flat fee?

There is no one answer which is correct one hundred percent of the time. Generally, Trivedi & Associates considers flat fee arrangements which follow a predictable timeline or when ever a finite result lends itself to this type of agreement. Ordinarily, the firm is able to advise its clients whether a matter is suitable for any other arrangements which may be fiscally conservative.

Will Trivedi & Associates accept my case on a contingency basis?

The firm is able to work on a contingency basis, however, in order to ensure availability of all of its resources, these cases are few and far in between. A good candidate for contingency work is one in which the facts and law require minimal development; the option can be further explored upon completion of a consultation.
